37. Malaysia @ Johor Bahru

Markus wanted to stay another night in Singapore. He wanted to go out with a friend. Due to Carina not being very keen on going out with the two boys in a very expensive city or stay in a very expensive capsel all night alone, she went a day earlier than Markus to the mainland of Malaysia. Here she stayed in a cheaper and much nicer hotel with pool and own bathroom.

Singapore and the city of Johor Bahru are very close to  each other.

The travel is easy. Take a bus to the border. Do the immigration formalities and take the same bus further to the center of Johor Bahru. It was not that easy in practice, but

that was only the beauty of it!

The mainland of Malaysia and the surrounding islands is 131,598 km2. The peninsula border Thailand to the north and Singapore to the south. west after crossing the Strait of Malacca lies Sumatra and to the east after crossing the South China Sea lies Borneo.

Roughly 80% or about 24 million people of Malaysia's population lives on the Peninsula. The rest on Borneo.

Johor Bahru is the capital city of Southern Malaysia. The city has a population of ca. 1.5 million inhabitants.

The cool thing about Johor Bahru is that it has a Legoland, but due to bad weather in the morning we did not go, but stayed a day in the hotel and used the pool. It was lovely, but the day after we headed north. Ready for more adventures.
