28. Taiwan @ Taichung

Then the tour went on.

We went to the city of Taichung with normal train and it felt like it took forever.

But we got to the 3. largest city on the island.

The city has about 3 million inhabitants.

We went to one of Taiwans biggest tourist attractions the "Sun and Moon Lake".

We spend a good day in the scenic area surrounding the lake.

The lake is situated 760 meters above sea level.

In some tourist brochure it is written, that the lake is the largest and most beautiful alpine lake in Taiwan.

We did not have the best weather and specially Carina was a bit disappointed.

The lake is known for its crystal clear and sparkling blue water set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. But because of the weather and the way too many boats on the lake it was NOT silent, unpolluted and beautiful.

We took a boat to the other side of the lake and a cable car to see the view.

It was a nice view...

There are a couple of small towns around the lake. Here there is a lot of good restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops in between each other.

This is the harbor.

Some of the boats are really nice looking.

It is Taiwan and of course there are some temples in the area. We visited the Wenwu Temple.

Just outside is this Chinese lion guard.

Taoist statues of Yue Fei and Guan Yu (both military generals).

The sunset from the top of the temple.

Even the sunset was not clear..... But the temple and temple area was lovely.

From Taichung we drove with train all the way north to Taipei, for after a couple of days to fly to Manila in the Philippines.
